There aren’t too many webcomics out there done by a doctor. Sure, there are lots of webcomics featuring doctors, but not many by doctors. Or I could be wrong- that’s always a possibility. But if you narrow the search to a comic that’s existed on and off for 15 years, is written by a doctor and features a neurotic medicine woman and a duck, I bet the results amount to only one thing: Callous Comics.

I could discuss the pure beauty of Carlo’s classic “funny animal” look or the sheer insanity and intensity in the story-lines he covers but there’s something else that, to me, is far more amazing: fifteen years- fifteen FREAKING years, people!!! Here’s a man who is so devoted to his characters, to his story, that even with a wife, kids and a medical degree he just couldn’t let it go. More than that, he is still turning out material as good or better than he was when the strip stopped appearing in print.

ABOUT THE COMIC: Sarah watched this being drawn via UStream and was so impressed with Carlo’s skill in Photoshop that her expectations were built incredibly high for the actual strip. Luckily, Rianne not only met those expectations but surpassed them.
